Posted : 07 March 2024

Nigeria Women's Football League (NWFL) side, Dannaz Ladies' head coach, Bashiru Fatai, shared insights on Wednesday into the team’s preparation for their impending clash against Naija Ratels in the NWFL.

Reflecting on the interrupted schedule due to a two-week break, Coach Fatai emphasized the significance of the extended preparation period. “We were supposed to play Naija Ratels before the league went on a two-week break, which we’ve been preparing for,” he stated. Expressing optimism, he added, “It’s an advantage for our teams as well to do more than what they have before.”

Recalling their previous encounter where Dannaz Ladies emerged victorious, Coach Fatai acknowledged the challenge awaiting them on Naija Ratels’ home ground in Abuja. “Our game against Naija Ratels at home in Onikan Stadium… we surprised a lot of people,” he remarked. However, he remained realistic about the upcoming fixture, admitting, “Going to their home ground… is not going to be an easy game for us.”

Amidst the break, Coach Fatai affirmed the team’s readiness, highlighting the players’ dedication and improvement in training sessions. “The girls are doing well… they always improve in every training day,” he remarked confidently.

Addressing potential changes and surprises in the lineup, Coach Fatai acknowledged the unpredictable nature of football. “Football is a funny game. We may have a plan and… [end up] with a different team when we get to the pitch,” he admitted. However, he assured fans that Dannaz Ladies would enter the match with a formidable squad, ready to adapt to any circumstances.

As Dannaz Ladies brace themselves for the challenging encounter against Naija Ratels, Coach Fatai’s unwavering confidence and strategic approach signify the team’s determination to secure a favorable outcome. With anticipation building among fans, all eyes are set on the showdown in Abuja as both teams vie for victory in the NWFL as the league resumes back on March 17th.
