Daniel Peretz, the Israeli national team goalkeeper currently with Bayern Munich, appears to be on the verge of a transfer to Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven. Peretz has seen limited game time in Germany, making just seven appearances since joining the Bavarians. With Peter Bosz, the current PSV coach and former Maccabi Tel Aviv manager, keen on bringing him in, Peretz is being lined up as a potential replacement for Walter Benitez, whose time at the Dutch club is reportedly coming to an end after three seasons.
Although clubs such as Eintracht Frankfurt, Leeds United, and Genoa had expressed interest in signing him, sources indicate that Peretz is now close to finalizing a move to the Netherlands. He had previously rejected loan offers from clubs in France and England during the January transfer window, stating his ambition to become Bayern's first-choice keeper.
However, his situation changed dramatically following the arrival of Jonas Omlin, who was quickly identified as Manuel Neuer’s long-term successor, effectively pushing Peretz further down the pecking order.
Adding to the competition, Neuer is expected to stay for at least another season, while Sven Ulreich remains in the squad, and Alexander Nübel, currently on loan at Stuttgart, has expressed interest in returning to Bayern.
These developments have made it increasingly difficult for Peretz to secure playing time, motivating his decision to explore new opportunities. A move to PSV would not only offer regular football but also the chance to feature in the UEFA Champions League next season.
Walter Benitez's anticipated departure from PSV has opened the door for Peretz to step in as the club's new number one. Despite PSV offering Benitez an extension through 2027, the two sides failed to reach an agreement.
Peretz would be joining a team fresh off a dramatic Eredivisie title win, having overtaken long-time leaders Ajax in the final stretch of the season. The move could provide a significant boost to the Israeli goalkeeper’s career as he seeks a starting role at a top European club.
