Captain of Crown FC, Ugochukwu Anozie, has called on his teammates to rediscover their winning mentality as the Ajilete Warriors prepare for a crucial away fixture against Edel FC at the Awka Township Stadium.

Crown FC head into the encounter seeking redemption following a disappointing run of results at home. The Ogbomoso-based side managed just one point from their last two matches, playing out a goalless draw against Sunshine Stars FC before suffering a narrow 1–0 defeat to Gateway FC.

Speaking from the team’s temporary camp in Awka ahead of the trip, Anozie acknowledged the team’s recent struggles but insisted that the squad remains focused and determined to return to winning ways.

According to the experienced defender, the players have held internal discussions to address their recent performances and are fully aware of the importance of the upcoming fixture.

“We know our recent results have not been good enough, especially for a team with ambitions of securing promotion. We must rediscover our confidence, show greater courage on the pitch, and maintain a strong mentality throughout the game. At this stage of the season, we cannot afford unnecessary mistakes.”

He also noted that the team had been unfortunate in some moments during their recent matches, stressing that improved composure in front of goal and better defensive concentration would have produced different outcomes.

“In some games we were unlucky, but football is about taking your chances and minimizing errors. If we had been more clinical and avoided certain mistakes, our position would have been different,” he added.

The Crown FC captain further urged supporters of the club to remain patient and continue backing the team as they push to regain momentum.

“We have spoken as a team and we understand what is at stake. Everyone is determined to turn things around. Our message to the fans is to keep believing in us. We will continue to fight and do our best to make them proud.”

Currently, Crown FC occupy fourth position with 15 points, while their hosts Edel FC sit seventh on the table with 12 points, setting the stage for a fiercely contested encounter in Awka as both sides aim to strengthen their positions in the league standings.
