Posted : 16 October 2026

Crown FC of Ogbomoso has confirmed the death of its driver following a road accident involving the club’s travelling contingent en route to Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, for the AFH Pre-season Tournament.

The incident occurred on Friday when the club’s Toyota Coaster bus reportedly collided with a trailer while conveying players and officials to the competition at Ebedei Stadium.

In a statement, the club said the driver sustained serious injuries but was later confirmed dead, while some players and officials were receiving urgent medical attention.

The management said the injured members of the contingent were being rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

It expressed deep concern over the welfare of the affected players and officials, assuring supporters and stakeholders that their safety remained its immediate priority.

The club, under the leadership of Coach Waheed Bello Adeolu, appealed to football authorities, government agencies, supporters, and well-wishers to remain calm as efforts continued to assist those affected.

Crown FC also called for prayers and support from its fans, the people of Ogbomoso, and the wider football community during the difficult period.

While appreciating the concern expressed by supporters and stakeholders, the club urged the public to avoid circulating unverified information about the incident.

The accident casts a shadow over the club’s participation in the pre-season tournament, as attention shifts to the welfare and recovery of the travelling contingent.

The club reiterated that providing the necessary care and support to its players and officials remained its immediate concern.
