2025 NNL Match Day 1 Review: Crown FC Crush Heartland FC in Ogbomoso

Posted : 18 November 2025

Heartland FC’s return to NNL action under coach Emmanuel Amuneke got off to a bruising start as they suffered a 3–0 defeat to a vibrant Crown FC side on Saturday at the Soun Stadium, Ogbomoso.

The fixture, billed as a test of Heartland’s renewed ambition, instead highlighted Crown FC’s organization, hunger, and early-season intent. From the first whistle, the Ogbomoso team displayed superior structure and energy, controlling the rhythm of the game and putting the Naze Millionaires under constant pressure.

The breakthrough came in the 35th minute when Seye Adegbite rose sharply to head home Haruna Abutu’s precise cross, rewarding Crown’s sustained pressure and sending their fans into celebration. Heartland’s efforts to regroup after the break were quickly undone. Minutes into the second half, Samuel Oyedeji doubled the lead, finishing a low cross from the relentless Adekunle Mojeed, whose pace stretched the visitors throughout the match.

Crown FC sealed the win in the 70th minute when Adegbite completed his brace, calmly converting an Ebenezer Odeyemi assist to emphasize the gulf in quality. The result firmly establishes Crown FC as early contenders in Southern Conference A, demonstrating a blend of discipline and attacking fluency.

For Heartland FC, the loss serves as a sobering reminder of the work ahead. Coach Amuneke’s men must address defensive lapses and inconsistencies quickly if they hope to compete effectively in the demanding NNL season.
