Como Reach Agreement to Sign Chelsea Defender Trevoh Chalobah in £30m-Plus Deal

Serie A side Como have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign defender Trevoh Chalobah in a transfer worth more than £30 million, marking one of the club's biggest signings ahead of their UEFA Champions League campaign. The England international is expected to complete a long-term contract and play a key leadership role under head coach Cesc Fàbregas.

Chelsea will receive an initial fee of approximately £25.7 million, with a further £5.1 million available through performance-related add-ons. The final package is close to the Premier League club's original valuation after weeks of negotiations that followed several bids from Como, while Inter Milan had also shown interest in the defender.

Fàbregas, who enjoyed a successful playing career at both Chelsea and Arsenal, has been determined to bring Chalobah to Italy for several months. The Como manager views the 27-year-old as an important addition to a squad preparing for its first-ever UEFA Champions League campaign after securing a fourth-place finish in Serie A last season.

Chalobah is set to leave Chelsea after spending nearly two decades with the club, having progressed through the academy before establishing himself in the senior team. During his time at Stamford Bridge, he made more than 150 first-team appearances and helped the Blues win several major trophies, making his departure the end of a long association with his boyhood club.

The transfer also represents a significant piece of Chelsea's summer restructuring as the club continues to reshape its squad. For Como, the arrival of Chalobah strengthens a defence that will be tested both domestically and in Europe as the ambitious Italian side looks to build on last season's impressive achievements.
