Cole Palmer Signs Improved Chelsea Contract Until 2034

Posted : 10 October 2026

England international Cole Palmer has signed an improved contract with Chelsea that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2034. The 24-year-old was previously contracted to the club until 2033, but the new agreement recognises his growing influence as one of Chelsea’s leading attacking players and an emerging presence in the dressing room.

Palmer joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023 for a reported £42.5 million and quickly established himself as a key figure in the team. His latest renewal places him among the Premier League players with contracts extending to 2034, alongside Manchester City striker Erling Haaland and Chelsea teammates João Pedro and Geovany Quenda.

The agreement is part of Chelsea’s wider strategy of securing the long-term futures of established stars and promising young players while maintaining a structured wage policy. João Pedro has also committed to the club until 2034, while winger Pedro Neto signed a six-year extension last month.

Palmer’s performances have continued to underline his importance to Chelsea. He has recorded four goals and two assists in seven appearances this season, building a productive partnership with Brazilian forward João Pedro. He has also renewed his on-field connection with Morgan Rogers during the early stages of Xabi Alonso’s tenure as Chelsea manager.

The new deal follows a challenging period last season when a persistent groin problem affected Palmer’s availability and performances. The attacker previously acknowledged that he had continued playing despite the discomfort, even though he later felt he should have rested. His fitness concerns also affected his international involvement, with the injury contributing to his absence from England’s World Cup squad.

Palmer subsequently missed England’s recent international fixtures after the problem resurfaced. National team manager Thomas Tuchel expressed concern about his limited availability, but Alonso reiterated that the forward remains committed to representing England. The Chelsea boss stressed that regaining full fitness was the priority for both club and country.

Alonso also confirmed that Palmer had returned to training and was feeling better after a period of recovery. The manager indicated that the club had been careful not to rush his return, emphasising the importance of ensuring the player was physically ready to compete.

Chelsea will hope Palmer’s renewed commitment and improved fitness can help drive their progress in the Premier League. The club entered the weekend in 10th place after five matches, having conceded 12 goals, and will be looking to improve its results as the season develops.
