Chiamaka Nnadozie Earns Spot in WSL Team of the Week Following Clean Sheet for Brighton

Super Falcons star Chiamaka Nnadozie has secured a place in the Women’s Super League Team of the Week for Gameweek 19. Sky Sports pundit Izzy Christiansen selected the Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper following her dominant display against Leicester City. The 25-year-old was instrumental in securing a 1-0 win for her side at the King Power Stadium.

Nnadozie demonstrated sharp reflexes and leadership throughout the encounter to earn her sixth clean sheet of the current campaign. She made a crucial early save by rushing off her line to deny Leicester's Shannon O’Brien in a one-on-one situation. The Nigerian international also showed great composure during the final minutes to clear a dangerous corner and protect the narrow lead.

The Team of the Week selection places Nnadozie among some of the biggest names in English football. The defensive line features Manchester City duo Alex Greenwood and Rebecca Knaak alongside Aston Villa’s Lynn Wilms. High-profile stars such as Lauren James, Alessia Russo, and Lauren Hemp were also included in the star-studded lineup.

Statistically, Nnadozie is currently enjoying a standout season as one of the most efficient goalkeepers in the league. She currently leads the WSL in save percentage with a remarkable 75.7 percent success rate. Furthermore, she ranks first in the "goals prevented" category with a 3.40 rating and sits third for saves made per 90 minutes.

This individual recognition comes as Brighton continues to climb the table and solidify their defensive record. Nnadozie now sits joint second in the race for the Golden Glove, trailing Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton by only one clean sheet. Her consistency has made her a vital asset for the Seagulls as they enter the final stages of the season.

Away from club duties, the goalkeeper recently expressed her thoughts on international scheduling changes. She noted her frustration regarding the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations being pushed from March to July. Despite the delay in the continental tournament, her domestic form remains at an elite level.
