Chelsea Sign Jordan Henderson on Two-Year Deal After Brentford Exit

England midfielder Jordan Henderson has completed a move to Chelsea on a two-year contract after mutually agreeing to terminate his deal with Brentford. The 36-year-old joins the Blues as a free agent, adding a wealth of experience and leadership to Xabi Alonso's squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

Henderson said Chelsea's stature, Alonso's influence, and the club's ambitions convinced him to make the switch. He added that he is eager to contribute both on and off the pitch, pledging to support his teammates and help the club achieve its objectives.

The veteran midfielder enjoyed a decorated 12-year spell at Liverpool, captaining the Reds to the 2019-20 Premier League title while also lifting the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup. He left Anfield in 2023 for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq before moving to Ajax in January 2024.

Henderson returned to the Premier League with Brentford last summer, making 34 appearances in all competitions and helping the Bees challenge for a top-half finish. His performances also earned him a place in England's squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup before his tournament was cut short by injury.

A product of Sunderland's academy, Henderson made his Premier League debut in 2008 before developing into one of England's most accomplished midfielders. Chelsea will hope his experience and winning mentality can strengthen a youthful squad as they look to climb the table and compete for European qualification this season.
