Chelsea FC Set to Compete in 2025 FIFA Club World Cup

Chelsea FC, one of Europe's most successful football clubs, is set to participate in the inaugural 32-team FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled to take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025. The Blues secured their place in the tournament by winning the 2021 UEFA Champions League, defeating Manchester City in the final. This victory marked their second Club World Cup appearance, having previously won the tournament in 2022.

 

Under the management of Enzo Maresca, who took over in July 2024, Chelsea has undergone a significant transformation. The club has bolstered its squad with strategic signings, including striker Liam Delap from Ipswich Town and midfielder Dário Essugo from Sporting CP. Additionally, young talents such as Andrey Santos and Mamadou Sarr are expected to feature prominently in the tournament, with Sarr joining the squad for the Club World Cup before returning to Strasbourg on loan.

 

Chelsea has been drawn into Group D, alongside Brazil's Flamengo, Tunisia's Espérance de Tunis, and Major League Soccer's Los Angeles FC. Their group stage fixtures are as follows:

 

  • June 16 – Chelsea vs. LAFC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta
  • June 20 – Chelsea vs. Flamengo at Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia
  • June 24 – Chelsea vs. Espérance de Tunis at Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia .

 

Advancing from this competitive group will require peak performance, but Chelsea's experience and tactical acumen position them as formidable contenders.

 

The expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup introduces a significant financial incentive, with a total prize pool of $1 billion.
