The race for promotion to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership reaches its defining moment on Tuesday as the 16 participating clubs file out for the final round of group matches at the 2026 NWFL Championship in Calabar.

With only the winners of the four groups advancing to the promotion playoffs and the bottom-placed teams heading into the relegation playoffs, every point, goal, and result will be crucial in determining each club's fate.

After two rounds of intense competition, only a handful of teams have placed themselves in commanding positions, while several others still have everything to play for in what promises to be a thrilling conclusion to the group stage at the U.J. Esuene Stadium and Saint Patrick College Stadium.

Group A

The spotlight will be on the clash between DreamStar Ladies and Delta Babes, with a promotion playoff ticket at stake.

DreamStar Ladies enter the encounter knowing that a draw will be enough to finish as group winners, while Delta Babes must secure victory to keep their Premiership hopes alive.

Elsewhere, Rosaria Victrix still have an outside chance of qualification but must first defeat First Mahi Babes and hope DreamStar Ladies lose to Delta Babes.

For First Mahi Babes, who are yet to register a point, survival remains the priority, with victory offering a chance to avoid the relegation playoffs.

Group B

Hosts Pelican Stars are within touching distance of the promotion playoffs but face their biggest test against Moje Queens.

Pelican Stars require only a draw to book their place in the next round, while Moje Queens must claim maximum points to overtake the hosts at the top of the group.

The other fixture between Gallant Queens and Ikukuoma Queens will determine which side avoids the relegation playoffs.

Gallant Queens need just a draw to preserve their Championship status, whereas Ikukuoma Queens must record their first victory of the competition to remain in the division.

Group C

Debutants Rangers Women FC have impressed throughout the tournament and are one win away from sealing a place in the promotion playoffs.

Standing in their way are Fortress Ladies, who are equally desperate for points as they battle to escape the relegation playoffs.

The all-Lagos encounter between Wazbak International Sports Academy and Unification FC could also reshape the group standings.

Wazbak must win and hope Rangers Women FC fail to do the same, while Unification FC also require maximum points alongside a Rangers Women FC defeat to secure qualification.

Interestingly, Unification FC remain the only side in the group yet to concede a goal, underlining the defensive discipline that has kept their promotion hopes alive.

Group D

Perhaps the most intriguing contest of the day will see unbeaten Ghetto Tigers face Imo Striker Queens in a winner-takes-all showdown.

Ghetto Tigers need victory to finish top of the group, while Imo Striker Queens require only a draw to secure progression courtesy of their superior goal difference.

Both sides have already guaranteed their places in next season's Championship regardless of the result.

The survival battle will be decided between Chosen Generation Angels and Kwara Ladies.

Chosen Generation Angels must claim all three points to avoid the relegation playoffs, while Kwara Ladies need only a draw to retain their Championship status thanks to their healthier goal difference.

With promotion ambitions and survival hopes hanging delicately in the balance, the final day of the group stage promises excitement, tension, and high drama as only four clubs will remain in contention for promotion to the 2026/27 NWFL Premiership.
