The Confederation of African Football has dismissed concerns regarding the preparation speeds of the three host nations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. Acting Secretary-General Samson Adamu confirmed that Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania are meeting all necessary requirements. He spoke confidently about the progress during a recent media appearance on SuperSport’s Soccer Africa program.
Adamu stated that there is currently nothing to worry about regarding infrastructure or logistics. He noted that the three countries have shown immense commitment to the project. This tournament will represent the first time in history that three nations have jointly staged the continental finals.
The 2027 edition marks a significant return of the competition to East Africa. The region has not hosted the finals since Ethiopia held the event in 1976. CAF officials view this as a landmark moment for the growth of football in the area. Adamu highlighted that this hosting arrangement showcases the unity and pride of the entire East African region.
The tournament structure will feature 28 teams competing for the trophy. As co-hosts, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania have already secured automatic qualification for the group stages. This expanded format aims to provide more opportunities for teams across the continent to showcase their talent.
CAF is following a strategic rotation policy to ensure inclusivity across Africa. Recent tournaments moved from Central Africa in Cameroon to West Africa in Ivory Coast and North Africa in Morocco. The shift to the East is part of a broader vision to spread the economic and social benefits of the game.
Adamu promised that the 2027 event would be one of the best competitions ever organized by the body. He explained that the atmosphere in East Africa will offer a unique experience compared to recent hosts. All necessary resources are being deployed to guarantee a successful tournament for players and fans alike.
The local organizing committees in the three nations continue to work under CAF supervision. Regular inspections are expected to continue over the next year to monitor stadium upgrades and hospitality facilities. Officials remain adamant that the historic nature of this joint bid will set a new standard for African football.
