CAF Official Samson Adamu Commends NFF on FIFA-Funded Abuja Infrastructure Legacy Project

The Acting General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football, Samson Adamu, has highly commended the Nigeria Football Federation for its massive infrastructure development. This commendation followed a joint facility tour alongside NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. The high-profile delegation thoroughly inspected the ongoing NFF-FIFA Players' Hostel and the newly constructed training pitches at Package B.

Adamu expressed immense national pride during the site inspection while describing the development as a magnificent legacy project. He stated that the state-of-the-art facility will provide a solid foundation for nurturing exceptional talents across future generations. The continental football official noted that such modern infrastructure could successfully produce world-class icons similar to legendary superstar Austin Jay-Jay Okocha.

The specialised sports complex is specifically designed to centralise and improve player welfare across all age-grade national teams. Adamu emphasized that a large nation like Nigeria requires high-standard camps to discover and develop hidden talents efficiently. His working visit to the capital city also covers strategic administrative planning for the upcoming CAF Congress and the prestigious CAF Awards.

The administrative official also extended his deep appreciation to the Federation and the Federal Government for their warm hospitality. His ongoing working tour focuses heavily on planning the upcoming general assembly and the continental awards ceremony in Nigeria. He noted that although Nigeria is his native home, the exceptional reception remains highly appreciated by the CAF leadership.

NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau confirmed that the landmark construction project remains fully on track for its scheduled completion. The building contract spans a fixed twenty-four-month period after initially breaking ground back in March 2025. Gusau revealed that the development has successfully reached its fifteenth month with approximately nine months left before the final handover.

Technical updates indicate that one of the new artificial training pitches has already reached eighty percent completion. Meanwhile, the adjacent natural grass playing surface is rapidly approaching its full rooting stage before internal finishing works begin. The close proximity of the construction site to the NFF headquarters allows the executive board to monitor ongoing progress daily.
