C2E Sports Academy Seal NWFL Nationwide Title in Aba

C2E Sports Academy have capped a memorable NWFL Nationwide campaign with a 2-1 victory over Obosa Queens FA to lift the 2026 title at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba.

Playing in front of their home supporters on Sunday, C2E made a strong start to the final and established a two-goal cushion before Obosa Queens mounted a second-half fightback.

Agnes Ohuche put the hosts ahead in the 11th minute before Nina Ude extended their advantage 19 minutes later, leaving C2E in a commanding position at the interval.

Obosa Queens responded quickly after the restart, with Saidat Idowu pulling one back in the 47th minute. C2E, however, remained composed under pressure and protected their advantage until the final whistle.

The triumph brought the 2025/26 NWFL season to a close and completed the league's three-tier calendar, following the conclusion of the Premiership and Championship competitions.

The Nationwide tournament, held from August 16 to 23 at the Enyimba Stadium, featured 12 clubs competing for honours and promotion while providing a competitive platform for emerging female football talents from across the country.

Beyond the title, the final produced another significant reward for both finalists, as C2E Sports Academy and Obosa Queens FA secured promotion to the NWFL Championship for the coming season.

NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, hailed the successful tournament as another step forward in the development and expansion of women’s football in Nigeria.

Shabi praised the participating clubs and stakeholders for their commitment throughout the competition and particularly acknowledged the Abia State Government and its Football Association for supporting the tournament and providing a hospitable environment for the teams.

She said the Nationwide competition had once again demonstrated the depth of talent available across the country and the importance of creating structured pathways for young female footballers to progress.

The NWFL chief also commended clubs, players, coaches, match officials, medical personnel, volunteers, media organisations and partners whose contributions helped bring the 2025/26 season to a successful conclusion.

The league congratulated champions C2E Sports Academy and runners-up Obosa Queens FA, with both clubs now set to begin preparations for life in the NWFL Championship.
