The 2026 NWFL Nationwide Championship burst into life in Aba with an impressive goal rush, as four opening-day fixtures produced 24 goals and set the tone for a fiercely contested battle for promotion.
The biggest statement of the day came from C2E Sports Academy, who delivered a commanding 10-1 victory over Bayelsa Princesses FC in their Group B encounter.
Ohuche Agnes needed just two minutes to put C2E ahead before Nwaboghogu Oluchi took centre stage with a hat-trick.
Temple Glory, Ngozi Miracle, Agnes Oluchi and Ogu Stella also found the net as C2E overwhelmed their opponents with an attacking display.
Bayelsa Princesses managed to pull one goal back through Amameniye Naomi in the 81st minute, but the strike only served as consolation in an otherwise one-sided encounter.
In Group A, Solo Wonders Babes also began their campaign on a winning note, overcoming Spunky Blazers FA 2-1.
Ndiribe Chinenye was the heroine for Solo Wonders, scoring both goals to secure maximum points for her side.
Onimarg FC produced another convincing performance in Group C, defeating NAF Queens 3-1, while Obosa Queens were involved in a five-goal thriller in Group D, edging Plateau United Queens 3-2.
Obosa Queens, however, had to finish the encounter with 10 players after Oliwo Towin received her second yellow card and was sent off in the 86th minute.
With all four opening-day matches ending in victories, the championship recorded no draws and an impressive 24 goals, highlighting the attacking quality on display across the different groups.
The participating clubs will now turn their attention to the subsequent fixtures as they continue their quest for promotion to the 2027 NWFL Championship.
