Brighton secured a 2-0 victory over Wolves at Molineux, maintaining their hopes for European qualification next season. Danny Welbeck scored a first-half penalty after Matheus Cunha fouled Mats Wieffer, marking his 10th Premier League goal of the season. Late in the match, substitute Brajan Gruda doubled the lead with a delicate chip over Wolves' goalkeeper Jose Sa for his first goal for Brighton.
Wolves had several chances in the first half but struggled to capitalize on them. Matheus Cunha’s shot was well saved by Bart Verbruggen, while Goncalo Guedes and Marshall Munetsi missed key opportunities. After a triple substitution by manager Vitor Pereira in the second half, Wolves looked more threatening but failed to break down Brighton's defense.
Despite being under pressure for much of the second period, Brighton held firm and took advantage of Wolves’ missed opportunities. Gruda's goal sealed the win in the 85th minute, keeping Brighton level on points with Brentford, just outside the top eight, and in the hunt for European football with two games left in the season.
Wolves, who had a promising run in April, were left disappointed after failing to score in two consecutive losses. They will need to regroup and perform in their remaining fixtures against Crystal Palace and Brentford to ensure a mid-table finish.
