Brentford Edge Past Relegated Ipswich Town for Fourth Consecutive Win

Posted : 10 May 2025

Brentford secured a narrow 1-0 win over already relegated Ipswich Town at Portman Road, extending their winning streak to four consecutive Premier League victories. The only goal of the match came from Kevin Schade, who netted a header from Bryan Mbeumo’s corner, continuing his strong form after scoring twice against Manchester United.

Despite a few chances from Ipswich, including a header from Liam Delap and a shot off the post by Omari Hutchinson, Brentford held firm to claim all three points.

Brentford’s victory keeps them in the hunt for European qualification, as they rise to eighth place in the Premier League, just behind teams vying for an eighth-place finish and a potential spot in the Conference League.

Schade’s goal was his fourth in his last three matches, marking a career milestone of reaching double figures in league goals for the first time. Brentford have now gone unbeaten in their last six matches, with standout performances from players like Mbeumo and Wissa.

Ipswich, on the other hand, continued their struggles at home, with the defeat marking their 13th home loss of the season, equaling their club record from 1994-95. Despite strong efforts late in the game, including chances for George Hirst and Cameron Burgess, they could not find the equalizer. Ipswich’s home form has been one of their biggest challenges this season, and their hopes of salvaging something from the match were dashed as Brentford’s defense held up under pressure.

The loss leaves Ipswich in 18th place, just one point above Leicester, and their hopes of escaping relegation remain slim with only two games left. Meanwhile, Brentford’s attention now turns to their final two matches against Fulham and Wolves as they push for a historic European finish. Ipswich, with a difficult run ahead, will travel to Leicester before hosting West Ham, needing to make up ground to ensure their survival in the Premier League.
