Bichi First FC Hands Technical Reins to Bassey

Bichi First Football Club of Kano have taken another step in their bid to strengthen their football project with the appointment of experienced Nigerian coach Patrick Bassey as Technical Adviser.

The Kano-based outfit, which has been gaining recognition for its focus on youth development, is banking on Bassey’s experience to provide the technical direction needed to build a more competitive side.

Bassey arrives with experience gathered across various levels of Nigerian football, having worked with both youth and senior teams and handled assignments centred on player development, tactical organisation and grassroots football.

His coaching résumé includes stints with Prison Football Club and Hybrid Football Academy, as well as roles within Nigeria’s youth development system.

He also served as Head Coach of Ranchers Bees FC ahead of the 2025/26 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, where he was tasked with helping the Kaduna-based club achieve its promotion ambitions. However, he later left the position for personal reasons.

The tactician subsequently joined Yobe Desert Stars FC as Technical Adviser for the second stanza of the 2025/26 NNL campaign, gaining further experience in managing a team in the highly competitive domestic league.

His move to Bichi First FC presents another opportunity to contribute to the development of young Nigerian footballers while helping the club translate its growing ambitions into tangible results.

The club has increasingly positioned itself as one of Kano’s emerging football projects, with an emphasis on nurturing young talents and establishing a team capable of competing beyond the state.

Bassey’s experience is expected to complement that vision as he takes charge of the club’s technical affairs and works towards improving its organisation, performance and talent pathway.

The Bichi First FC management will now hope the appointment marks the beginning of a successful era, with Bassey expected to combine youth development with the competitive edge required to make the club a stronger force in Nigerian football.
