Edel FC suffered a narrow 1–0 home defeat to a well-organized Beyond Limits Academy side in a tightly contested Match Day 5 fixture of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL).
Fresh from a midweek Cup triumph, Beyond Limits rotated their squad but still delivered a composed and purposeful performance. The visitors settled quickly, dictating the early stages and probing Edel FC’s defence with sharp movements and structured build-up play.
The breakthrough came in the 36th minute. After initially hitting the crossbar, Beyond Limits capitalized on the ensuing scramble, with Merveille Akinocho pouncing decisively on a loose ball to score the match-winning goal.
Edel FC attempted to increase the tempo after halftime, enjoying more possession in the second half. However, they struggled to break down a disciplined Beyond Limits unit that maintained a compact shape and denied clear scoring opportunities.
As the game reached its tense climax around the 70th minute, Beyond Limits demonstrated tactical maturity. Their defenders remained tight in duels, midfielders intelligently closed passing lanes, and the team collectively stifled Edel FC’s late attempts at an equalizer.
Despite Edel’s efforts to push more players forward in the closing stages, Beyond Limits’ composure and defensive organization ensured the 1–0 scoreline held. Akinocho’s decisive strike, combined with a resilient defensive display, secured another valuable away win, extending Beyond Limits’ perfect record and reinforcing their status as early NNL title contenders.
