Best Talent Football Club of Mowe has retained 20 players from its squad that featured in the recently concluded 2026 Nationwide League One (NLO) season as preparations begin for the club's next set of competitions.
Head coach Farouk Yusuf disclosed that 13 players were released based on performance evaluations, while invitations have already been extended to several standout players identified during the league campaign.
Speaking after the team's first training session following a one-week break, Yusuf expressed satisfaction with the commitment shown by the returning players.
"We are delighted to have 20 players back from the 33-man squad that prosecuted the last NLO season. They responded positively in their first session, which was intentionally light after the short break," he said.
The former player also announced that the club's open screening exercise for talented young footballers will run from Monday, July 6 to Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the club's Car Park C Arena in Mowe, Ogun State.
According to Yusuf, the exercise is targeted at players between the ages of 16 and 19 who possess the quality and potential to earn a place in the squad.
"Our objective is to recruit players who are good enough to wear the club's colours and take advantage of the opportunities available through the team," he stated.
Yusuf added that the retained players are fully aware that places in the squad remain competitive, with several trials and competitions lined up in the coming months.
"We have made it clear to the players that nobody's position is guaranteed. We expect everyone to remain focused, work hard, and continue improving because our goal is to be among the best in Nigerian football," he said.
The club's retention of its core squad, combined with the recruitment of promising young players, reflects its long-term commitment to building a competitive team. Best Talent FC will be aiming to strengthen its squad further as it prepares for future competitions and continued progress in Nigerian football.
