Posted : 09 March 2024

On Friday, March 8th, several Nigerian players showcased their skills in various football matches.

In Italy, Victor Osimhen played for Napoli in a 1-1 draw against Torino at the Diego Maradona Stadium. Despite scoring five goals in his first three games of 2024, Osimhen has struggled to find the net in his last two matches.

Moving to Belgium, KRC Genk II and Patro Eisden battled to a thrilling 2-2 draw in the Challenger Pro League. Victory Beniangba starred for Genk, scoring both goals in the second half, but Patro Eisden secured a late equalizer.

In France, Terem Moffi featured for OGC Nice, and Akor Adams played in the second half for Montpellier in their Ligur 1 clash. Despite neither Nigerian forward scoring, Montpellier secured a 2-1 victory.

The 2024 Virsliga season kicked off in Latvia, and Abiodun Ogunniyi scored the consolation goal for Auda in their 2-1 home defeat to Rigas FS. Ogunniyi equalized on the hour mark, but Rigas FS secured the winning goal in stoppage time.

In Romania, Philip Otele scored a stoppage-time winner, securing a 1-0 triumph for CFR Cluj over Hermannstadt. Otele has now scored four goals in his last four games, boasting a total of 13 goals in 30 matches.

Moving to Serbia, Adetunji Adeshina broke the deadlock in the 77th minute, leading Novi Pazar to a 1-0 away win against Spartak Subotica. This goal marked Adeshina's first in 2024 and his fourth for the season.

In Turkey, league leaders Galatasaray secured a 6-2 victory against Rizespor at RAMS Park in Istanbul. David Akintola impressed, and Ibrahim Olawoyin scored one of Rizespor's consolation goals, but it wasn't enough to trouble the hosts.
