Bendel Insurance Football Club has taken a major step towards enhancing its international profile after the club's Chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, held high-level discussions in London aimed at repositioning the club ahead of the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The strategic meeting brought together Tenebe and Dr. Drew Uyi, a FIFA-licensed football agent, international brand strategist and Founder/Chief Executive Officer of DD Eleven Group, to explore initiatives that would strengthen the club's competitiveness both on and off the field.
Central to the discussions were plans to improve Bendel Insurance's global visibility through modern player branding, international marketing, talent promotion and commercial development.
The meeting also examined ways of increasing the international marketability of the club's players while reinforcing Bendel Insurance's status as one of Nigeria's most historic football clubs.
Among the major proposals was the introduction of a structured player-branding programme designed to help players build stronger professional identities through an enhanced digital presence, media engagement and personal branding to attract international scouts, sponsors and career opportunities.
Tenebe reiterated his commitment to transforming the Edo State-owned club into an organisation that competes at international standards, stressing that innovation, professionalism and strategic partnerships would be key to achieving sustainable success.
He said the club's management was determined to mobilise the necessary resources to ensure Bendel Insurance remains competitive both in the NPFL and beyond.
Speaking during the meeting, Uyi emphasised that modern football extends beyond performances on the pitch, noting that effective branding has become a critical factor in increasing players' value and opening doors to global opportunities.
He also pledged to support the club's vision by leveraging his international football network and expertise in player branding and sports marketing.
The London meeting is expected to serve as the foundation for a long-term collaboration aimed at expanding Bendel Insurance's international reach, improving player development and strengthening the club's commercial prospects.
With preparations for the 2026/2027 NPFL season gathering momentum, the Benin-based club believes the proposed partnership will play an important role in its drive for sustained sporting and commercial success.
The proposed collaboration reflects Bendel Insurance's ambition to embrace global best practices while creating greater opportunities for its players and the club as a whole. If successfully implemented, the initiative could enhance the club's profile and competitiveness both domestically and internationally.
