Bendel Insurance Start Second Stanza with 1-0 Win Over Kwara United

Bendel Insurance Football Club began the second half of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season on a positive note, defeating Kwara United 1-0 at Ilorin Township Stadium. The only goal of the Matchday 20 encounter came in the 37th minute, when Akpan Emanuel converted after the Benin Arsenals had wasted several earlier chances.

This fixture marked the first match of the NPFL second stanza and followed a previous victory over Kwara United, confirming Bendel Insurance’s dominance. In Matchday 19 on December 27, the Benin-based side defeated the Harmony Boys 2-0, with Emmanuel Akpan and Kayode Oke scoring to secure three points and end the first half of the season on a high.

Bendel Insurance have maintained impressive form under coach Kennedy Boboye, extending an unbeaten streak that began when he took charge in October 2025. The team’s consistent performances have helped them rise to 8th place on the league table with 29 points after this latest win, just ahead of their upcoming opponents, El-Kanemi Warriors, who sit 9th with 28 points.

The Benin Arsenals will host El-Kanemi Warriors at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin on Saturday, January 17, with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m. The match presents an opportunity for Bendel Insurance to build on their momentum and continue their push up the NPFL standings.
