Bendel Insurance Set to Resume June 22 Ahead of 2025/26 NPFL Season

Bendel Insurance Football Club has announced Sunday, June 22, 2025, as its official resumption date in preparation for the upcoming 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season. According to a circular released by the club’s secretary, Charles Ihimekpen, the first training session will take place on Monday, June 23 at 8:00 a.m. Players and officials had embarked on a month-long break following the end of the 2024/25 season on May 25.

 

At a joint meeting between the club’s supporters and technical crew in Benin City, Chief Osadolor Ogiefa, leader of the supporters’ club, reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the team. He commended Head Coach Greg Ikhenoba and his staff for their remarkable comeback last season, pulling the team from the relegation zone to a top-five finish. Chief Ogiefa urged the coaching crew to focus on discipline and teamwork while recruiting players who will represent the club’s values.

 

“We are proud of what you achieved last season. It was no small feat,” said Ogiefa. “Now we must build on that success. With the right players—regardless of origin—we believe a podium finish is within reach. The Edo State Government is committed, management is ready, and we the supporters are prepared. The responsibility now lies with the players.”

 

Head Coach Greg Ikhenoba also expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans, stating that their belief in him was instrumental in turning the season around. “When I took over, the situation was tough, but your support never wavered. We narrowly missed a CAF competition ticket, but we’re aiming higher this time,” he said. Ikhenoba assured fans that the technical team is focused on delivering silverware in the upcoming campaign.

Meanwhile, the NPFL management has confirmed that the 2025/2026 league season will kick off on August 22, 2025.
