Bendel Insurance FC have officially commenced preparations for the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, with Technical Manager Kennedy Boboye setting a top-three league finish as the club's minimum target.
The Benin-based side returned to training on Wednesday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium after the off-season break, with players and officials beginning preparations for the new campaign.
Addressing the squad at the first training session, Boboye charged the players to approach the season with discipline, commitment, and a winning mentality, stressing that there would be no room for complacency.
According to him, the club is determined to build on its impressive turnaround last season by competing for honours and securing a continental ticket.
"We thank God for bringing us back safely. Now the real work begins, and everyone must remain focused because there is no room for indiscipline.
"Our objective is to improve on last season's performance. We want to finish among the top three and challenge strongly throughout the campaign.
"We are expecting new players to join us, and they should be welcomed as part of the Insurance family so that we can work together as one team," Boboye said.
The experienced tactician, who assumed duty in October 2025, masterminded the club's remarkable escape from the relegation zone before guiding Bendel Insurance to a fifth-place finish in the 2025/26 NPFL season.
Boboye also disclosed that the club's management had promised improved welfare for the players and technical crew, urging the team to repay the confidence with positive results.
"The management has assured us of better welfare, and we must respond by giving our best on the pitch. Our supporters deserve victories and attractive football," he said.
He directed all retained and newly signed players to report to the club's Government Reservation Area (GRA) camp in Benin on or before July 10 as the team intensifies preparations for the new NPFL season.
With preparations now underway, Bendel Insurance will be aiming to build on last season's resurgence and mount a stronger challenge for a top-three finish and continental qualification in the 2026/27 campaign.
