As Bendel Insurance Football Club steps up its preparations for the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season with friendly games, the chairman of the club, Jarret Tenebe, has assured players and officials of improved welfare.
Tenebe gave this assurance during an unscheduled visit to the team on Friday, shortly after their emphatic 5–0 victory over NLO side FC Rolly of Benin in a preseason friendly.
The club chairman, accompanied by the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Amadin Desmond Enabulele, stated that his vision for the Benin-based club is to make it a regular contender in continental tournaments and to raise the market value of its players.
He encouraged the players to expect better treatment while also urging them to deliver results, noting that football is serious business.
“I congratulate all of you for the efforts and progress you’ve made so far to get us to where we are today.
I remember the difficult situation we found ourselves in last season when we came on board, but thank God we pulled through and finished well.
As we prepare for a new season, I want to assure you of our full support and all the encouragement needed to succeed.
We have hopes of reaching new heights this season, and we must remain focused on that goal.
The Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has just revived Edo Transport Line, so we in the sports sector will ensure he continues to support Bendel Insurance to reach enviable heights.
We understand that you deserve good accommodation, new vehicles, and other incentives to boost morale. When morale is high, good results will follow.
We believe we can win the league. Let’s work towards that, and you’ll be rewarded handsomely.”
In response, the Head Coach of Bendel Insurance, Greg Ikhenoba, expressed his appreciation on behalf of the team and promised not to let the management down.
“Honourable Chairman, we truly appreciate your visit—it was unexpected.
We know you as a man of your word. We’ll never forget how you supported us last season.
You showed us love and faith even during tough times and traveled with us to support the team in some away matches.
You even motivated us with $3,000 winning bonuses, and still released the funds to us even when we didn’t win the match.
We’re proud of you and assure you of our loyalty and dedication to the progress of Bendel Insurance FC.”
Meanwhile, Bendel Insurance players have been moved into a closed camp since Wednesday to enable the technical crew to fine-tune their final selections and enhance team bonding ahead of the fast-approaching new football season.
According to Coach Ikhenoba, several Grade A preseason friendlies have been lined up for the new-look team, in addition to their participation in the upcoming Bayelsa Preseason Football Tournament.
