Bellingham and Mbappé inspire Real Madrid to 4-0 win over Málaga

Real Madrid maintained their perfect start to the 2026/27 LaLiga season with a commanding 4-0 victory over newly promoted Málaga at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday.

Jude Bellingham opened the scoring after 19 minutes with a brilliant individual effort, beating two defenders before firing the ball past Málaga goalkeeper Alfonso Herrero.

The England international was involved in Madrid’s second goal seven minutes later. After Herrero saved Kylian Mbappé’s initial attempt, Bellingham headed the rebound towards goal, with Málaga defender Carlos Puga’s attempted clearance deflecting off Herrero and into the net.

Mbappé then added Madrid’s third in the 30th minute, producing a superb volley from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross. The goal was his fourth of the campaign and further underlined his strong start to the season.

Málaga threatened briefly before the break, with Rafa Rodríguez hitting the post after a corner was played back to him, while Chupe sent another effort narrowly wide.

Real Madrid controlled the second half without needing to maintain the same intensity. Bellingham came close to adding another goal when he struck the outside of the post, while Madrid continued to pose a threat whenever they increased the tempo.

Arda Güler completed the scoring in stoppage time after Vinícius Júnior set him up for a close-range finish, giving Madrid their fourth goal and a clean sheet.

The victory marked Madrid’s third consecutive league win under José Mourinho, leaving them top of the table with nine points from three matches. They have scored 10 goals while conceding only two during their perfect opening run.

Bellingham was given a standing ovation by the Bernabéu crowd when he was substituted in the second half. The midfielder has credited Mourinho with giving him greater freedom to move forward and influence matches from an attacking midfield role.

“I've got the freedom to go higher or lower if we need, I'm enjoying myself a lot,” Bellingham said after the match.

Mourinho, meanwhile, highlighted the importance of Madrid’s defensive discipline and clean sheet after their impressive attacking display.

The result also continued Málaga’s difficult record at the Bernabéu, where the newly promoted side remain without a victory against Real Madrid.

Elsewhere in LaLiga, Deportivo La Coruña recorded their first victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Valencia, while Athletic Bilbao also secured their first three points by defeating Celta Vigo 2-0.

Barcelona will look to maintain their own perfect start when they host Rayo Vallecano in their third league match.
