Beşiktaş Step Up Move for Terem Moffi as Nice Prepare to Sanction Exit

Posted : 13 July 2026

Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi is attracting strong interest from Turkish giants Beşiktaş, with the Istanbul club stepping up efforts to sign the Nigerian forward from French side OGC Nice ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Reports from Turkey indicate that Beşiktaş have identified Moffi as one of their priority attacking targets as new head coach Vincenzo Italiano continues to reshape the squad. The club is searching for an experienced striker capable of leading the attack, and the 27-year-old has emerged as a leading candidate.

Nice are reportedly open to selling Moffi if they receive a suitable offer. The striker is also believed to be keen on a fresh start after a difficult spell in France that included a long-term injury and a strained relationship with sections of the club's supporters.

Moffi spent the second half of last season on loan at Portuguese giants FC Porto after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury. He featured in 15 matches across all competitions, scoring twice and providing one assist. Porto had an option to make the move permanent for around €8 million but chose not to activate the clause, allowing the Nigerian to return to Nice.

His future at the Ligue 1 club now appears uncertain. Reports suggest tensions with some Nice supporters escalated during a poor run of results, with Moffi and teammate Jérémie Boga allegedly confronted by a group of fans after one defeat. The incident further strengthened the striker's desire to seek a move away from the club.

Despite his recent challenges, Moffi remains a proven goalscorer with experience across several European leagues. He began his professional career in Lithuania before moving to Belgian side Kortrijk in 2020. His impressive performances earned him a transfer to FC Lorient later that year, where he scored 35 goals in 90 appearances and established himself as one of Ligue 1's most dangerous forwards.

Those displays convinced Nice to sign him permanently in 2023 after an initial loan spell. During the 2023/24 campaign, he finished as the club's leading scorer with 11 goals and also produced memorable performances in European competition, including a spectacular bicycle-kick goal against Basel.

His momentum was interrupted by a serious ACL injury suffered before the 2024/25 season, keeping him out of action for more than 300 days. Although he returned to competitive football, he has struggled to rediscover his previous form.

On the international stage, Moffi has represented Nigeria since making his Super Eagles debut in 2021. He scored twice in Nigeria's 10-0 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying victory over São Tomé and Príncipe in 2022 and was part of the squad that reached the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after replacing the injured Victor Boniface.

If the transfer is completed, Moffi would join a growing list of Nigerian internationals playing in the Turkish Süper Lig, with Beşiktaş hoping his experience and goals can strengthen their push for domestic and European success.
