Bayelsa United suffers another defeat as Lobi Stars triumph 2-1

Lobi Stars inflicted more misery on Bayelsa United FC with a 2-1 victory at Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa on Monday.
 
This loss on Match Day 7 marked the second defeat for Bayelsa United FC in the 2023/2024 season, with their previous loss occurring in the Match Day 3 fixture against Remo Stars. Their recent loss came in Match Day 6 against Kano Pillars, with a score of 0-3, resulting in five losses and two draws in the league campaign.
 
In the match against visiting Lobi Stars from Makurdi, Tiza Lorwuese opened the scoring for the visitors in the 29th minute, while lethal striker Robert Mizo equalized for Bayelsa United in the 42nd minute. However, Tiza Samuel completed the brace with the winning goal in the 67th minute for the Makurdi-based side.
 
Lobi Stars FC joined Doma United and Remo Stars as the only three teams to have secured away wins this season so far. This victory in Yenagoa moved Lobi Stars to the top of the table with 14 points, one ahead of Rangers International FC, boasting four wins, two draws, and one loss.
 
In the upcoming Match Day 8 fixtures, Lobi Stars will host Sporting Lagos in Lafia, while Bayelsa United will travel to Owerri to face Heartland FC.
