For the Prosperity Boys, preparations for the 2025/2026 NPFL season began with an unexpected setback—the sudden departure of their manager, Ladan Bosso, who left for newly promoted side Barau FC.
Bosso, who had been central to Bayelsa United’s rebuilding plans, walked away at a crucial moment, leaving the club to reassess its path forward. Despite the disappointment, the team has moved quickly to steady the ship.
Bayelsa United have since confirmed the appointment of Monday Odigie as their new Technical Adviser, entrusting him with the responsibility of shaping the club’s future.
As part of their build-up, the team participated in the Bayelsa Pre-Season Football Tournament held at the Samson Siasia Stadium. The event featured six NPFL clubs—Bendel Insurance (winners), El-Kanemi Warriors, Enugu Rangers, Kun Khalifa FC, and Warri Wolves—as well as two non-league sides, EGM FC and Bayelsa United U-20. The competition provided valuable preparation and a chance to test squad depth.
Heading into the new campaign, Bayelsa United are showing renewed determination, supported by solid technical leadership and competitive pre-season experience. However, with no confirmed new signings yet, the club’s immediate challenge will be to improve squad quality while sharpening its tactical edge.
After finishing mid-table last season, the Prosperity Boys will be aiming higher, though their current chances are rated at 5/10.
