Bayelsa State Government Appoints Five-Man Caretaker Committee to Manage Bayelsa United

The Bayelsa State Government has introduced significant structural changes to the administrative setup of Bayelsa United Football Club. Deputy Governor Dr. Peter Akpe announced the official appointment of an executive five-man caretaker committee. The specialized committee will assume full responsibilities for steering the affairs of the football club for an interim period of six months.

Dr. Akpe made the strategic announcement on Thursday during the ongoing Prosperity Cup tournament in Yenagoa. The state government tasked the newly formed panel with stabilizing the operations of the team. The administrative committee must establish clear institutional policies and provide structured administrative direction during its active tenure. This intervention comes at a critical time as the club handles essential transitions before the commencement of the upcoming football calendar.

The newly formed executive committee will be led by Dr. Peter Singabele, a respected sports administrator and member of the Confederation of African Football Medical Committee. Other prominent members selected to serve on the management panel include Sir Braveman Wodi, Mr. Godson Ekarde, and Mr. Ono K. Akpe. Mr. Ken Akpolaemi Odogu will officially serve as the administrative secretary for the newly inaugurated board.

The immediate task ahead for the Singabele-led panel involves auditing current club operations and coordinating player recruitment strategies. The temporary team will work closely with technical staff members to ensure seamless match preparations. Observers state that the temporary restructuring aims to fix previous organizational gaps and properly align the sports club with the long-term athletic vision of the state.

The caretaker committee received strict directives from the state government to commence official duties with immediate effect. Moving forward, the board will oversee fiscal management and streamline internal communications within the sports organization.
