Fresh off their dominant campaign en route to the 2024/2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership title, Bayelsa Queens FC are setting their sights on continental glory.
Head coach Whyte Ogbonda has declared the team’s readiness to surpass their previous best—a third-place finish at the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League. With a spectacular run that included a 5–1 thrashing of Benue Queens and an unmatched 14-game unbeaten streak, the “Restoration Girls” topped the NWFL Super Six table to clinch their sixth league title.
Ogbonda, who joined Bayelsa Queens in mid-2024 following a successful stint with Rivers Angels, is spearheading a renewed push for international success. “We’re working hard to achieve it and accomplish something that, to many, may seem impossible,” he said. “This is not just about competing—we’re going there to contend for the title.”
Bayelsa Queens are backing their ambition with action. The club has strengthened its attack with the signings of Oscar Precious, Confidence Onen, and Yinusa Zainab—all standout talents from the NWFL Championship. The team’s aspirations are clearly supported beyond the pitch.
“The support we’ve received from the state government has been tremendous—financially and otherwise,” Ogbonda noted, highlighting the collective commitment to the club’s continental goals. As the countdown to the CAF Women’s Champions League begins, fans and analysts alike are watching closely. Bayelsa Queens are no longer satisfied with domestic dominance—they’re out to be Africa’s finest.
