Barcelona Thrash Alavés 6-1 as Raphinha, Yamal and Gordon Shine

Posted : 01 November 2026

Barcelona produced an emphatic attacking performance to defeat Deportivo Alavés 6-1 at the Spotify Camp Nou on Saturday, October 31, 2026, as Hansi Flick's side bounced back from consecutive defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

Raphinha and Lamine Yamal both scored twice, while Fermín López and substitute Anthony Gordon completed the scoring for the Catalan giants. Mariano Díaz grabbed a late consolation goal for Alavés.

The victory restored Barcelona's confidence after a difficult period that included a 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the El Clásico and a 4-2 Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain. The result also strengthened their position at the top of the LaLiga standings.

Barcelona wasted little time establishing their dominance. Raphinha opened the scoring in the eighth minute after Fermín López delivered an excellent pass into his path, allowing the Brazilian to finish confidently.

Alavés struggled to contain Barcelona's attacking movement, and the hosts doubled their advantage in the 23rd minute. López collected a pass from Yamal before driving into the penalty area and firing a powerful finish past goalkeeper Antonio Sivera.

López continued to influence proceedings and played a crucial role in Barcelona's third goal. The midfielder recovered possession before releasing Raphinha, who produced a precise left-footed finish in the 41st minute to complete his brace.

Barcelona added a fourth goal just before the interval. A flowing attacking move ended with Yamal firing a first-time effort into the net in stoppage time, giving the hosts a commanding 4-0 advantage at half-time.

The Spanish winger continued his impressive performance after the break. In the 64th minute, Gabriel Jesus provided the assist with a clever pass behind the Alavés defence, allowing Yamal to lift the ball over Sivera for his second goal. VAR confirmed the goal after an initial offside decision.

Flick's substitutes also contributed to the impressive result. England international Anthony Gordon came off the bench and scored in the 81st minute after receiving an excellent through ball from Rodri. The former Newcastle United winger calmly lifted his finish over Sivera to register his first league goal for Barcelona.

Alavés managed to find the net three minutes later when Mariano Díaz capitalised on a defensive mistake to score their only goal of the evening.

Despite missing several first-team players, including Jules Koundé, Eric García, Andreas Christensen, Dani Olmo and Roony Bardghji, Barcelona delivered an outstanding performance.

Fermín López was particularly influential, contributing a goal and two assists, while Raphinha and Yamal continued their excellent scoring form.

The result leaves Barcelona top of LaLiga with 30 points from 11 matches, two points ahead of second-placed Atlético Madrid. Alavés remain on 12 points after suffering another disappointing league defeat.

Barcelona will now turn their attention to their upcoming Champions League encounter against Aston Villa as Flick's men look to maintain their domestic momentum.
