Barcelona President to Meet Xavi Hernández to Discuss Managerial Future

Barcelona president Joan Laporta is set to meet with coach Xavi Hernández next week to deliberate on his future as the team's manager, according to sources. The meeting, which will include Barça sporting director Deco and other members of the sporting directorate, is scheduled after Barcelona's final LaLiga match of the season against Sevilla on Sunday.

 

Club insiders have indicated that this meeting will serve as a debrief of Barcelona's trophyless season, bringing Xavi's position under scrutiny once more.

 

Should Xavi be relieved of his duties, sources suggest that possible successors include Barça Atlétic coach Rafa Márquez, Hansi Flick, and Brentford manager Thomas Tuchel. Additionally, Thiago Motta and former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi have been mentioned as potential candidates for the role.

 

The discussion between Laporta and Xavi comes amid a turbulent period for the club, starting from Xavi's initial announcement in January to step down at the end of the season. Despite retracting this decision in April after a meeting with Laporta, Xavi's recent comments on the club's financial struggles have reignited the debate about his future. The forthcoming meeting will focus on analyzing the season's failures and deciding Xavi's fate, with a resolution expected shortly after.
