Barau FC Appoints Rabi’u Tata as Interim Coach After Bosso’s Exit Sparks Controversy

Posted : 16 October 2025

Barau FC has named Rabi’u Tata as interim Technical Adviser following the departure of coach Ladan Bosso, whose resignation initially caused confusion.

Newly promoted Barau Football Club has become the center of controversy following the departure of its Technical Adviser, Ladan Bosso, after a series of disappointing results in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The situation took a confusing turn when reports of Bosso’s resignation first surfaced, only for the club’s management, nicknamed the Maliya Boys,  to urge the public to disregard the news. However, the club later reversed its stance and officially confirmed Bosso’s exit, citing personal reasons.

In a statement released by Ahmad Gwale, the club’s Media Director, Barau FC announced the appointment of Rabi’u Tata as interim Technical Adviser, effective immediately. Tata, who previously served as the team’s assistant coach, will oversee preparations ahead of their crucial Matchday 9 fixture against Kano Pillars this Sunday.

“The management of Barau FC has approved the appointment of Coach Rabi’u Tata as interim Technical Adviser of the club with immediate effect,” the statement read.

“This follows the decision of Coach Ladan Bosso to step aside temporarily due to family reasons.”

The club expressed gratitude to Bosso for his dedication and contributions since joining the team earlier in the season, acknowledging his efforts to strengthen the squad during their debut campaign in the NPFL.

Gwale further explained that Tata would collaborate with the existing technical crew to maintain stability and ensure a smooth transition.

“Coach Tata will work closely with the current staff to sustain the team’s performance and build on existing progress,” he said.

Currently sitting in 19th position on the league table, Barau FC faces a challenging test against Kano Pillars in what promises to be an intense North-West derby. Supporters, however, have expressed optimism that Tata’s leadership could bring renewed focus and improve the club’s standing in the weeks ahead.
