Barau FC will aim to snap a four-match winless streak when they host Kwara United at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano. The Maliya Boys have picked up three points from their last four fixtures, recording three draws and one loss.
The Kano-based club earned a hard-fought goalless draw away to Rivers United in their previous league outing. That match was halted in the 77th minute due to a heavy downpour before concluding the following morning. Barau FC currently occupy fifth spot in the table with 14 points from nine matches.
Technical Adviser Eugene Agagbe returns to the dugout after completing his CAF A Licence coaching course in Abuja. He gets a major personnel boost as captain Usman Maidubji, Nasiru Jibril, and Hillary Ekawu have returned to full training. Agagbe remains adamant that his side must secure all three points in front of their home supporters.
"Our target is to get the maximum three points, nothing less," Agagbe stated ahead of the encounter.
Kwara United travel to Kano following a 1-1 home draw against Abia Warriors in their last fixture. The Afonja Warriors sit 13th in the standings with 11 points from nine matches; they remain just three points behind their hosts. Head coach Tunde Sanni expects a stern test but wants his players to build momentum on the road.
Barau FC hold a strong home record this term; however, Kwara United will aim to exploit any pressure on the hosts. Victory for Barau FC could propel them into the top four, while an away win for Kwara United would draw them level on points with the Kano outfit.
