Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembele hails current PSG form as the pinnacle of his career

Posted : 29 March 2026

Ousmane Dembele has described his current period at Paris Saint-Germain as the finest chapter of his professional life. The 28-year-old winger was recently honored as the 2025 Ballon d'Or winner after leading the French giants to their inaugural Champions League trophy. Speaking to Fox Deportes, the forward explained that he has reached a new level of maturity both on the pitch and in his private life.

The former Barcelona man enjoyed a prolific campaign last season, contributing a remarkable 36 goals and 16 assists. He noted that he feels much calmer and more thoughtful than in previous years, which has allowed him to perform consistently. Despite dealing with a minor calf injury during recent European play-offs, Dembele insisted that he understands his body better than ever before.

While domestic success has been a priority, the winger is now shifting his focus toward international glory with France. He recently featured in a 2-1 friendly victory over Brazil, where he provided a crucial assist for Kylian Mbappe. Dembele emphasized that appearing in a World Cup is a rare honor that requires elite performance from the world's best players.

The French national team enters the upcoming tournament in North America as one of the heavy favorites to lift the trophy. Dembele warned that individual talent alone will not guarantee success for the Three Lions' rivals. He stated that the squad must remain structured and united to add a third star to their jersey this summer.

Away from the pitch, rumors have circulated regarding a potential move to Manchester City after reports of a meeting with their sporting director. However, the winger appears settled in the French capital and expressed an openness to extending his stay at the Parc des Princes. He clarified that while he is happy, formal contract discussions remain a matter for his representatives and the club.

France will look to build on their 2018 victory and 2022 final appearance as they finalize their preparations. For Dembele, the goal is clear: maintaining his individual brilliance while prioritizing the collective strength of the national team. His evolution from an inconsistent talent to the world's best player marks a significant turning point for both club and country.
