2025/2026 NPFL Match Day 13 Preview: Baby Elephants Walk Tightrope to Confront People’s Elephant

The Enyimba International Stadium in Aba is set for a thrilling encounter on Sunday as two NPFL sides bearing the Elephant identity clash in a symbolic showdown. As the adage goes, “When two elephants fight, the grass suffers,” and the lush green pitch is expected to bear the impact when Enyimba International FC host Wikki Tourists in a Match Day 13 fixture of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

Nine-time league champions Enyimba will be desperate for victory as they welcome the resurgent Wikki Tourists of Bauchi—fondly called the Baby Elephants.

While the Aba giants carry the prestige of being Nigeria’s most decorated club, their current form has been far from convincing.

The People’s Elephant sit 8th on the log with 17 points from 12 matches, having recorded four wins, five draws, and three defeats. Their inconsistency has triggered tension within the camp, prompting the club’s management to issue an ultimatum to head coach Stanley Eguma: win and restore confidence.

For visiting Wikki Tourists, the mood is much more positive. Under the guidance of coach Abdul Maikaba, the Bauchi side have lost only once in their last five matches and are currently enjoying a three-game unbeaten run—two wins and a draw.

Their recent hard-fought victory over Niger Tornadoes in Match Day 12 has boosted morale as they prepare for the challenging trip to Aba.

Coach Maikaba insists his team is ready for the test and remains optimistic about maintaining their momentum.

“We’ll now shift focus to our next game against Enyimba in Aba, and we aim to keep this winning mentality,” Maikaba noted.

With Enyimba fighting for stability and Wikki Tourists pushing for continued resurgence, Sunday’s clash promises intensity, drama, and a battle worthy of the Elephant rivalry. Only one side will emerge as the dominant giant of Aba.
