Atule targets bigger season after inspiring Barau FC survival

Barau FC winger Joseph Atule has expressed his determination to reach greater heights after an impressive 2025/26 campaign in which he played a pivotal role in the club's successful fight against relegation.

The 24-year-old forward scored eight goals in all competitions after joining the Kano-based side from Enyimba during the January transfer window, quickly establishing himself as one of the Nigeria Premier Football League's standout performers.

Atule's career began at Katsina United in 2019 before a stint abroad. He returned to Nigeria in 2022 to join his home-state club, Lobi Stars, where his impressive performances earned him a move to former NPFL champions Enyimba.

During his time with the People's Elephant, Atule showcased his quality on the continental stage, scoring crucial goals in CAF competitions and cementing his reputation as one of the league's most dependable wingers.

His move to Barau FC proved to be a turning point for both player and club. Atule's goals and attacking influence were instrumental in helping the NPFL newcomers preserve their top-flight status in their debut campaign.

"I'm grateful for how last season went, but I'm not done yet," Atule said. "The goal is to build on it, be more consistent, score more, and help Barau FC achieve bigger things next season."

Confident of making an even greater impact in the 2026/27 season, Atule believes the lessons from last term and a complete pre-season with the club will help him deliver stronger performances as Barau FC set their sights on climbing higher in the NPFL standings.
