Asante Kotoko, Kwara United’s opponent in the first round of the 2025/2026 CAF Confederation Cup, have been hit with injuries to key players.
However, the head coach of the Ghanaian side, Karim Zito, has dismissed fears over the situation, urging calm among the football fraternity.
The Porcupine Warriors will open their 2025/26 Confederation Cup campaign against the Afonja Warriors later this month.
Despite losing key players, particularly in midfield, Zito maintains that his side is mentally and tactically prepared.
“In terms of injury, we are still facing some problems, especially in midfield,” Zito said. “When you look at the squad, Ntim is unlikely to be available for the first half of the season. Baba too is not well, so at the moment we only have Antwi in the middle. Before the new ones settle in, we need to find the right balance.”
The experienced tactician added that recent signings will be given opportunities to step up and fill the gaps left by the absentees.
“We are working on letting the players play together so the team can gel,” Zito explained. “It will take a bit of time, but that doesn’t mean we are not ready. We are prepared for the game, and we will give everything on the pitch.”
Asante Kotoko will be aiming for a strong start as they seek to improve on their previous continental outings.
