AS Real de Bamako Beats Hafia FC 3-1, Ends Direct Route to WACC Final

 AS Real de Bamako beat Hafia FC 3-1 on Thursday, August 20. The match was the second fixture of the day at the M'Ballou Mady Diakité stadium in Kankan. It closed out the group phase of the West Africa Champion's Cup 2026.

Hafia FC came into the match needing a win. A victory would have sent the club from Dixinn straight into the final. Their form had been building nicely: a 0-0 draw with FC Diarra came first, then a wild 4-3 win over Stade Malien de Bamako. That second result had raised real hope for a strong finish.

AS Real de Bamako had a tougher route to Thursday. The Malian side lost their opener 2-0 to Star Sport Academy. They then held Karfamoriah FC to a 2-2 draw. Thursday's win was their first of the tournament, and it landed at the moment that mattered most.

Hafia FC's defeat closes the door on a direct route to the final. The club now needs the rest of the group's results to fall their way for any hope of reaching the August 22 showpiece.

This was the last match of the group phase. A rest day follows on August 21. Karfamoriah FC, already confirmed for the final after their own win earlier on Thursday, now waits to learn their opponent.

For Hafia FC, the tournament closes on a difficult note after a run that showed real promise midweek. For AS Real de Bamako, Thursday's win is a reminder: the group phase can turn on a single result, right up to the final whistle.
