Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes the disappointment of losing the League Cup final to Manchester City can be a valuable motivator as his side pursues success in the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League this season.
The Gunners were beaten 2‑0 in the Carabao Cup showpiece at Wembley but remain well placed domestically and in Europe.
Arsenal sit atop the Premier League table with a nine‑point lead over Manchester City and will travel to Championship outfit Southampton for an FA Cup quarter‑final on Saturday.
They also prepare for a last‑eight Champions League tie against Sporting Lisbon next week. Arteta has asked his players to channel the frustration from their Wembley loss into energy and focus for the title run‑in.
Reflecting on the setback, Arteta said the squad has analysed their recent performances and are determined to improve as they head into the most critical part of the campaign.
He stressed that the defeat should make the team stronger and more prepared for future challenges.
In addition to the motivational message, Arteta also addressed the withdrawal of some key players from international duty during the break, emphasising strong communication with national team coaches and clear medical decisions.
Despite some injuries, he remained optimistic about squad readiness for the upcoming FA Cup tie and beyond.
