Arteta Keeps Title Faith as Arsenal Aim to Reclaim Top Spot

Mikel Arteta has reaffirmed his belief that Arsenal FC can still win the Premier League title, despite slipping from first place after Manchester City edged ahead in the standings. City’s narrow win over Burnley pushed them to the summit, leaving Arsenal level on points but trailing on goals scored.

The Gunners now have an opportunity to regain top spot when they face Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium. Avoiding defeat would be enough to move them back above City, keeping their title hopes alive heading into the final stretch of the season.

Just weeks ago, Arsenal looked in complete control of the race after opening up a nine-point lead. However, recent defeats, including losses to Bournemouth and City, have shifted momentum and left their title ambitions no longer entirely in their own hands.

Despite the setback, Arteta remains confident his team can respond positively. He has urged his players to focus on the remaining five matches, stressing that belief and clarity within the squad remain strong. The manager highlighted that the team still has everything to play for, both domestically and in Europe.

Arsenal could also be boosted by the return of key players, with Bukayo Saka and Riccardo Calafiori nearing comebacks from injury. Their availability would provide a timely lift as the team balances its league challenge with a Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, Manchester City appear to be peaking at the right time, reclaiming top spot for the first time since August and building momentum with consistent performances. Arsenal, in contrast, have struggled for form in recent weeks, managing just one win in their last six matches across all competitions.

Arteta, drawing from his own experience of winning titles in dramatic fashion, insisted that tight finishes can produce unforgettable moments. He called on his players to give everything in the remaining fixtures and fight until the very end in pursuit of the Premier League crown.
