The Premier League has unveiled its fixture list for the 2026-27 season, with reigning champions Arsenal set to begin their title defence at home against newly promoted Coventry City on 21 August.
Arsenal enter the campaign as defending champions after ending a 22-year wait for a league title last season. The opening match will see manager Mikel Arteta lead his side against a Coventry team returning to the top flight for the first time in 25 years after securing promotion by winning the Championship.
The new season will also mark the beginning of several managerial eras across the division. Andoni Iraola will take charge of his first Premier League match as Liverpool manager when Liverpool travel to face Newcastle United on 23 August.
Iraola's first league game at Anfield is scheduled for the following weekend, when Liverpool welcome Nottingham Forest. The former Bournemouth boss takes over a Liverpool side aiming to challenge for domestic and European honours.
At Manchester City, a new chapter begins following the departure of Pep Guardiola after a decade in charge. City will open their campaign at home against AFC Bournemouth and are expected to appoint Enzo Maresca as Guardiola’s successor.
Meanwhile, Xabi Alonso starts his tenure as Chelsea manager with a London derby away to Fulham on 24 August. Chelsea will be hoping the former midfielder can guide the club back into title contention.
Among the promoted clubs, Hull City return to the Premier League for the first time since 2017 and begin their campaign at home against Manchester United on 22 August. Fellow newcomers Ipswich Town host Sunderland in another opening-weekend fixture.
Elsewhere, Europa League holders Aston Villa travel to Brighton & Hove Albion, while Brentford take on Tottenham Hotspur. Everton will host Crystal Palace and Leeds United face Nottingham Forest away from home.
Arsenal’s early schedule presents several significant tests. Following the opening clash with Coventry, the champions travel to Aston Villa before welcoming Chelsea to the Emirates Stadium on 5 September. Further away fixtures against Sunderland and Brighton will provide additional challenges during the opening months.
One of the most anticipated matches of the season arrives on the weekend of 12 September, when Manchester City and Manchester United meet in the first Manchester derby since Guardiola's departure. Another standout fixture sees Liverpool host Manchester United on 21 November.
The first meeting between Arsenal and Manchester City is scheduled for 28 November at the Emirates Stadium. On the same weekend, Everton and Liverpool will contest the season’s first Merseyside derby at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Tottenham’s first north London derby under manager Roberto De Zerbi will take place on 5 December when Spurs host Arsenal.
The festive period also features a notable storyline, with Coventry boss Frank Lampard facing former club Chelsea on Boxing Day. Later in the season, Liverpool travel to Old Trafford on 23 January, while Manchester City host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium a week later.
The Premier League season will conclude on 30 May. Arsenal finish at home against Brighton, Manchester City travel to Sunderland, and Liverpool host Bournemouth. Chelsea and Manchester United will end their campaigns at home to Brentford and Fulham respectively.
The 2026-27 season has been scheduled later than usual due to the FIFA World Cup, which concludes only 34 days before the Premier League begins. Before league action gets underway, Arsenal and Manchester City will meet in the traditional season opener, the FA Community Shield, on 16 August.
