Arokodare Scores First Eredivisie Goal as Ajax Thrash Telstar 4-0

Tolu Arokodare continued his impressive start to life at Ajax by scoring in their 4-0 away victory over Telstar in the Eredivisie on Sunday. The Nigeria international scored Ajax’s third goal as the visitors produced a dominant second-half display.

Ajax initially struggled to break down a disciplined Telstar defence at the BUKO Stadion. The hosts limited the visitors to few clear opportunities before Davy Klaassen finally broke the deadlock in the 37th minute.

Steven Berghuis doubled Ajax’s advantage in the 56th minute. The Dutch forward then turned provider four minutes later when he set up Arokodare, who finished to make it 3-0 in the 60th minute.

Arokodare started the match and remained on the pitch for the full 90 minutes. His goal was his first in the Eredivisie since joining Ajax on loan from English Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 25-year-old striker has now scored in three consecutive appearances for Ajax. He also has four goals across all competitions since moving to the Dutch club, including a two-goal performance in the UEFA Conference League qualifying play-off against FC Sion.

Ajax added a fourth goal in the 78th minute through substitute Marcos Leonardo. The Brazilian reacted quickest after Telstar goalkeeper Ronald Koeman Jr failed to deal with a shot from Abdellah Ouazane, completing a comfortable victory for the visitors.

The result gives Ajax seven points from their opening three Eredivisie matches. They remain unbeaten and sit fourth in the early standings, behind leaders AZ Alkmaar, PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord.

The victory also gives Ajax additional momentum after they secured their place in the UEFA Conference League league phase. The Amsterdam club will face Atalanta, Getafe, FC Thun, FC Midtjylland, Hajduk Split and STVV in the competition.

For Arokodare, the latest performance strengthens his claim for a regular starting role under head coach Míchel Sánchez. His goalscoring run has also provided Ajax with another attacking option as the club balances domestic football with its European commitments.
