Arokodare names preferred destination amid Newcastle, Fulham, Benfica links

Posted : 28 April 2025

Tolu Arokodare, the two-time capped Nigeria international, is expected to depart Racing Genk in the upcoming transfer window, assuming a club willing to meet his transfer demands comes forward.

The Nigerian forward's stock has risen dramatically after an outstanding season at Racing Genk, where he netted 22 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions. His impressive performances have caught the attention of several top clubs across Europe.

Premier League teams Newcastle United and Fulham are reportedly keen on signing Arokodare, with both clubs monitoring his situation closely. Meanwhile, German Bundesliga sides Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also believed to be keeping tabs on the forward, although these links are yet to gain significant traction.

Further reports have emerged suggesting that Portuguese giants Benfica and Turkish club Trabzonspor are also interested in securing Arokodare's services, adding to the growing list of potential suitors for the striker.

In response to the mounting speculation, Arokodare acknowledged the rumors but emphasized his commitment to staying focused and not letting the media frenzy distract him from his game. "I try to stay focused and keep a clear head," he told Sports Boom, adding that his ultimate ambition is to play in the Premier League.

He went on to explain that playing in the Premier League has always been a long-held dream. "The future is unwritten, but like many players, it’s a dream of mine to one day play in the Premier League," Arokodare said.

Arokodare is under contract with Racing Genk until the end of the 2026-2027 season. The young forward made his senior debut for Nigeria in a World Cup qualifier against Rwanda on March 21, 2025. Just four days later, he earned his second cap in a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in Uyo.
