Aris Agree ₦800m Deal to Sign Former Nigeria U23 Midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru

Greek Super League club Aris have agreed a deal with Watford to sign former Nigeria U23 international Tom Dele-Bashiru in the current summer transfer window.

According to reports from Greece, the Thessaloniki-based club have reached a full agreement with both Watford and the midfielder. The transfer is expected to be completed after the 26-year-old undergoes a routine medical.

Sky Sports reports that Aris will pay £425,000, approximately ₦800 million, to secure the midfielder's services. The clubs had already agreed on the transfer, with only the final paperwork delaying the announcement.

Dele-Bashiru is expected to arrive in Thessaloniki before joining his new teammates. If he successfully completes his medical examinations, he will travel with the squad for the main stage of Aris' pre-season training camp in Italy.

The former Manchester City academy player is set to sign a three-year contract with the Greek club, marking the next chapter in a career that has taken him across England and Turkey.

Dele-Bashiru joined Watford in 2019 after leaving Manchester City's youth setup. During his time at Vicarage Road, he experienced several loan spells as he sought regular first-team football and valuable experience.

Last season, the midfielder spent the campaign on loan at Turkish club Gençlerbirliği. He featured in 30 matches across all competitions and played an important role as the club secured promotion back to the Turkish Super Lig.

Aris view Dele-Bashiru as an experienced midfielder capable of adding energy, physicality and technical quality to their squad as they prepare for the 2026/27 season. The club will also compete in European football and are strengthening their squad ahead of a demanding campaign.

The move offers Dele-Bashiru another opportunity to establish himself as a key player at club level after several years of mixed fortunes in England. A strong spell in Greece could also boost his chances of returning to the international spotlight.

The midfielder represented Nigeria at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup and later featured for the Olympic Eagles at U23 level. Although he is yet to make his senior debut for the Super Eagles, consistent performances in Greece could revive his hopes of earning a first call-up.
