Anderlecht Submit €3.5m Bid for Super Eagles Winger Chidera Ejuke

Belgian Pro League side Anderlecht have submitted a €3.5 million bid for Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke as they push to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. Reports in Spain and Belgium indicate that Sevilla are open to selling the Nigerian international as part of their ongoing efforts to improve the club's financial position.

Ejuke has one year remaining on his contract at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, but he is widely expected to leave before the transfer window closes. Sevilla need to generate funds through player sales to meet La Liga's financial regulations, making several first-team players available this summer.

The 28-year-old reported for pre-season training with the Spanish club, but his future has remained uncertain. He has reportedly fallen down the pecking order under coach Luis Garcia Plaza and was left out of parts of the club's pre-season preparations, further fuelling speculation over a transfer.

Anderlecht see Ejuke as an experienced attacking option capable of adding pace and creativity to their frontline. The Brussels club is eager to close the gap on reigning champions Union Saint-Gilloise and title rivals Club Brugge after falling short in recent Belgian Pro League campaigns.

A return to Belgium could suit the Nigerian winger. Ejuke previously impressed during his loan spell with Royal Antwerp in the 2023/24 season, where he scored four league goals and provided four assists in 29 league appearances. His performances earned him a move to Sevilla on a free transfer after leaving CSKA Moscow.

Sevilla are not expected to demand a significant transfer fee because they signed Ejuke without paying a transfer fee. The Spanish club views the proposed offer as an opportunity to reduce its wage bill while generating funds for squad rebuilding. Reports suggest the Belgian club's proposal could rise to around €4 million through performance-related bonuses.

Despite Anderlecht's interest, Ejuke's future remains unresolved. Clubs from Saudi Arabia are also monitoring the winger and could test his resolve with improved financial terms. Sevilla and the player are expected to decide on the next step in the coming weeks as the summer transfer window enters its final month.
