Anderlecht Submit €3.5m Bid for Sevilla Winger Chidera Ejuke

Belgian Pro League side Anderlecht have submitted a €3.5 million bid for Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke as the Nigerian edges closer to leaving Spanish club Sevilla this summer.

Ejuke is expected to depart Sevilla before the close of the transfer window after being informed that he is no longer part of the club's plans for the 2026/27 season. Although he still has one year remaining on his contract, Sevilla are prepared to sanction his departure for a fee in the region of €3 million.

The 28-year-old reported for pre-season training with the La Liga club but was omitted from the squad for their pre-season tour of the Netherlands. His absence has further strengthened reports that head coach Gracia Plaza does not see him as part of his plans for the new campaign.

According to reports in Spain, Anderlecht have identified Ejuke as a key transfer target as they look to strengthen their squad for the new Belgian Pro League season. The Brussels-based club is aiming to mount a stronger title challenge against reigning champions Union SG and perennial contenders Club Brugge.

Ejuke is no stranger to Belgian football. He spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Royal Antwerp, where he impressed with four goals and four assists in 29 league appearances. His performances helped rebuild his reputation before he completed a permanent move to Sevilla.

Since joining the Spanish side, however, the Nigerian has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter. He has scored three goals and registered two assists in 52 appearances across all competitions, falling short of the impact many expected after his successful spell in Belgium.

A return to the Belgian top flight could offer Ejuke the opportunity to revive his career and enjoy regular playing time. Anderlecht believe his pace, dribbling ability and creativity would strengthen their attacking options ahead of a demanding domestic and European campaign.

The Belgian club could still face competition for the winger's signature. Reports indicate that clubs from Saudi Arabia are also monitoring Ejuke's situation and may be prepared to offer both Sevilla and the player a more attractive financial package.

With the summer transfer window still open, negotiations are expected to continue as Sevilla look to reshape their squad, while Ejuke weighs his options before making the next move in his career.
