Amorim Backs Chukwueze to Play Key Role in AC Milan Plans

AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze remains part of his plans for the upcoming season, ruling out the possibility of a loan move.

Speaking during a press conference in Milan, Amorim said Chukwueze offers qualities the team needs, particularly in one-on-one attacking situations. The Portuguese coach revealed that the former Super Eagles star will be given the opportunity to prove his value during pre-season.

Amorim explained that the club is assessing several players ahead of the new campaign but insisted Chukwueze has earned the chance to compete for a regular place in the squad.

"There are some players who were not here last year. Chukwueze is staying with us because we need players who can play one-on-one. Saelemaekers can play on either the left or right, and he also likes taking on defenders," Amorim said.

The Milan coach added that final decisions on the squad will be made after pre-season while keeping the club's financial plans in mind. He also stressed that Chukwueze's versatility gives the Rossoneri more tactical options.

Amorim believes the Nigerian possesses the technical ability to fit into different attacking roles. He said he wants Chukwueze operating in positions where he can influence the game rather than remaining fixed on the touchline.

"I have clear ideas about how I want him to play. He can play with his right foot from the left side, but also on the opposite flank. I want him operating between the lines rather than staying wide all the time," Amorim added.

The coach also highlighted the positive atmosphere around the player, noting that Chukwueze is well respected within the squad and has the backing of both the coaching staff and his teammates.

Chukwueze joined AC Milan from Villarreal with high expectations but has struggled to secure a consistent starting place. Injuries and competition for attacking positions limited his opportunities during previous campaigns.

With Amorim now placing confidence in the Nigerian international, the upcoming pre-season could be an important opportunity for Chukwueze to establish himself as a regular contributor. His pace, dribbling ability and direct style of play could become valuable assets as Milan prepare for the Serie A season and European competition.
